Cincinnati--Malibu client Tri-State Electric Supply, Inc., has been acquired by WinWholesale’s Winlectric group, which distributes electrical equipment. Established in Cincinnati in 1984, Tri-State is a recognized regional distributor of electrical products sold primarily to commercial and residential electrical contractors. The company expanded to Dayton in 1988 and launched its third facility in Columbus in 2005. Led by Charles Niesen, the company distributes a broad range of electrical products and represents some of the leading manufacturers. Tri-State had $24 million in revenues in 2006.
“Malibu was very helpful in not only finding the right buyer for my business but also in negotiating the transaction and bringing it to close,” said Niesen. “Their communication with us was outstanding; they kept us in the loop and were available and accessible when issues came up during the process.”Tri-State will become part of the WinWholesale’s Winlectric group of companies, which distributes electrical equipment. WinWholesale had $2.6 billion in revenue in 2006 and consists of 450 wholesaling corporations in which WinWholesale is an equity partner, and also Noland Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary. Noland is a wholesaler headquartered in Newport News, Va. with more than 100 branches. Collectively, WinWholesale is referred to as “The Win Group of Companies.” The company is Dayton area's fifth largest firm, according to Dayton Business Journal research and is the 166th largest privately held company in the United States according to Forbes magazine. WinWholesale has 5,400 employees, with 227 in Dayton.
